Steve Kearney
Steve began playing badminton as a 12-year-old after winning the 7th grade Ping Pong tournament. From there he became Ranked in the top 5 for Double and Mixed in US. He began running tournaments to raise money for Junior programs. When he moved to Atlanta for work, the Olympic Committee asked him to run Badminton for the 1996 Olympics. He took 3 years off work to travel around the world learning and running badminton events. Playing badminton and racquetball tournaments still, he became President of USA Badminton. He worked for NBC as Color Commentator for Badminton in 3 Olympic Games. He was on the Board of National Senior Games and has run badminton for them since 1999. In 2015 he was named Director of Para Badminton, when he got his first taste of working with Veterans to recruit them into Badminton. Para Badminton is a Paralympic sport starting in 2020. He is proficient in Badminton, Pickleball and Racquetball. Working with MACS since 2021, his passion now is to help veterans use adaptive paddle/racquet sports as a form of healing.
